Please Help: Nec Primary - What secondary? I want to...
Hi,
Question for anyone playing necro.
I'd like to have a versitile necromancer if possible:
(1) be a valueable asset to 2,3,4 man underworld
(2) be a minion master
(3) good options for pvp
(4) fun
(5) SS (what is this?)
Basically, I'd like the most versitle necro possible.
The strongest two options look like necro/mez and necro/ele.
Is necro/ele good?
Please feel free to outline any one or each combination you would like! I value your opinion if you've been playing, so please feel free to share it! Thanks so much.

mes is the way for u my friend. u can be valuable for a uw team. u can be in a 2 man uw using Spiteful Spirit (SS) and u just need to be necro for helping groups as in u can just cast blood ritual or blood is power. with n/me u can be anything u want as in builds. a n/me can be anti antyhing as in they both have spells that depend on oppoent to do stuff. a minion master well ya u can be. many options for pvp as u can be echo SS. thie thing is u wont be able to run all those things. so u might have to change ur attributes sometimes.
n/ele can be good as u can be pure defensive and run wards and wells to help the team. or u can run the little combo of enfeblee and stoning.

Monk or Mesmer. Both have good builds available to them, as a support to the team or as a valuable fighter. As a /Mo, you can get some good protection and healing prayers to help your team and make good builds with (scourge hexes, healing is good with AotL, healing yourself if you are a battery necro) and as mesmer and necromancer are quite similar in the hex department, they have some good combos open to them as well, such as virulence/fragility and Migrane/spinal shivers.

I have found out that to be a truly monsterous mm I have taken echo elite along w/ me to missions and especially to Furnace. Echo Verata's Sacrifice and your bone fiends last twice as long, much better than what you might take w/ a monk like healing area considering you dont have to be right up to them to heal em and it's +10 regen which is better than any healing skill i know that takes 1 push of a button. Also another note is you dont have to waste useless points into healing b/c echo is in no attribute and you can add those atts into reaping.

^ Yea and also N/Me are really the only build which is accepted for 2 man UW for Echo, and Sympathetic Visage. /Mo in my opinion is overrated and /Me is a much better choice for PVP, and PVE. Simply my perspective, N/Mo's are decent, but N/Me rips it to shreds :P

Another voice for /Me or /Mo, based on your criteria. I'm not sure what you'd get out of /E, really; maybe Water Magic for some slows?
Also remember that - if this is a roleplaying character - you CAN switch secondaries later on, so if you get bored with whatever you originally pick you can try something else. I was originally N/W, switched to /Me after ascension, and am enjoying the change of pace.

/E gets you the Glyphs, which can be handy for a MM. Lesser Energy you get in Pre, and it drops effective casting costs by 10, making it useful early game, but dropping in utility as you get more energy. Most MMs don't really rely on an elite, so late game you can get good use out of Glyph of Renewal. They're both unlinked, so you can focus on Death/SR/[Blood or Curses, to taste].
You could probably centre a decent defense/support build around Earth for Wards and Blood for Wells, too.
All that said, I'd still prefer to go /Me or /Mo in most cases.

Huh! The Wells are some of my favourite Necro spells, after Mark of Pain; doing, say, Well of Blood, Well of Power, and then the wards.. that'd be interesting.. <ponders build> Not what the original poster was lookin' for, but still!
